Christmas Tutorials!

Homemade Christmas Ornaments

How to make a glitter snowflake ornament

I thought these looked so pretty! Glitter Snowflake!
Supplies:

  • 1 clear glass ball ornament
  • Beacon Glitter it (from Hobby Lobby)
  • Silver Glitter
  • vinyl snowflake
Instructions:
  1. Per instructions on the bottle of GLITTER IT -remove hanger from ornament and add one tablespoon of white vinegar to one cup of warm water and pour a small amount into the ornament. Swirl around to thoroughly clean glass. Empty ornament and rinse well with warm water. Let dry completely. (do this step a day a head or use a hair dryer to speed up drying)
  2. Pour a small amount of GLITTER IT into ornament. Swirl around to coat the entire inner surface. Add more if needed.
  3. Immediately add about 1 teaspoon of fine glitter to inside of ornament . ( you can pour some glitter onto a piece of paper with a fold and use it to guide/pour the glitter into the ornament) then rotate and shake ornament until the inside of the ornament is completely covered with glitter. If necessary, add additional GLITTER-IT and glitter until all areas are covered.
  4. Turn ornament upside down and shake away any excess glitter.
  5. Add vinyl snowflake to outside of ornament.
  6. Replace hanger, (*note – you can spray paint the hanger with white spray paint to give some contrast.)
  7. Go hang on the tree and enjoy!!

I saw this tutorial on a blog and though it was so cute! I love tutorials! Anyway, I am going to try it. I also found this pumpkin white chocolate drink and thought it looked so yummy I had to share. I am going to try this also!!

Recipe: Pumpkin Spice White Hot Chocolate

Summary: Just like pumpkin pie in a mug!

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • pinch of ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • pinch sea salt
  • 2 ounces white chocolate (roughly chopped)

Instructions

  1. In a small sauce pan over medium heat, combine milk, pumpkin and spices. Cook string constantly until just simmering.
  2. Remove from heat and add chocolate ( reserve some for garnish)
  3. Just before serving, top each mug with a generous mound of whipped cream, a few shavings of white chocolate, and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon. Serve immediately.
  4. Enjoy

Tell me that doesn't look absolutely delicious!  Hope you have a wonderful evening (with or without this scrumptious looking treat!)

Thanksgiving

Hello everyone!! Since we are approaching Thanksgiving, I thought I would make a list of all (or some) of the things I thank God for. I have currently been reading a book about some missionaries to Africa, and God has showed me how truly blessed I am. So here is my list.

   1. Above all else, I am thankful for Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for his love and mercy. I am thankful that though I deserve nothing but hell, he has given me eternal life through his blood.

2. I am thankful for the Bible. I am so thankful that I have one that I can pick up and read at any time. So many people who would love to have one can not, or are forbidden to read it.

3. I am so thankful for my wonderful, godly parents. I am so blessed to have Christian parents to love and guide me. I love them so much and never doubt their love for me.

4. I am so thankful to have such wonderful siblings. I love beings the oldest daughter, and having eight younger siblings. I LOVE little kids! I also love my wonderful older brother! Siblings really are your best friends.

5. I am so thankful for all of my family members!

6. I am thankful for a church.

7. I am thankful for a house, a car, clothes, food, and all of the things God has blessed me with that I often take for granted.

8. I am so thankful  to be home schooled, and that I have been all my school years!

9. I am thankful for the little things we take for granted such as air conditioning. Our air conditioner is broken and a month ago I had to sleep with it being 90 degrees. After one night of a Charleston summer night with no a.c, trust me, you will love your air conditioner (at least I do!) I know that is really nothing compared to some places around the world.

10. I am glad for water to drink, bathe, wash clothes and dishes in and so on. Hundreds of people die each year because they don't have clean water.

11. I am thankful for doctors who know so many things about the body and medicine.

12. I am thankful God made the world so beautiful. All of creation is evidence for God. There is no going around that fact. This world is defiantly not here by chance!

13. Tasty foods and deserts! (Don't laugh at me mom and dad!) They know me well, and  know I like yummy foods! I wonder who I got that sweet tooth from;))

2. The holidays!

14. Wonderful scents! I love the smell of spices, herbs, flowers, breads, pies, treats baking in the oven, soups and roasts in the crock pot.

15. Drinks like apple cider, hot chocolate, and coffee!

16. As all bibliophiles, I am glad I have books!

17. I love animals !

18. Golden sunrises and sun sets.

19. Staring into my sweet baby brothers big blue, bug eyes! I call them that because they are so large for his face. He is so adorable!

20. I love it that my baby sister, who is nearly two, is totally my girl! I love hearing her call my name in her sweet (loud) voice, "Pate!! Pate, where are you?" Or, "Pate, I want dis!" Some times it can be just a bit annoying, but I would much rather hear that voice calling my name all the time,  than it not calling me at all!

21. I love having long talks with my brother, or mom and dad.

22. I love talking with my little sisters.

12. I love looking into the star filled night and being filled with wonder at the awesomeness of Gods creation.

24. I also love reading all the wonderful blogs.

25. I love getting up early to read my Bible and pray.

26. I also love it when I wake up in the middle of the night and can just feel that God is near me. When I do wake up, I always think of the verse that says God sings over us in the night. How wonderful that thought is!

Wow, that is pretty long! I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families!

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations."

Micah Shepherd is born and Treasure's Birth Day!!

Micah Shepherd Hardwick is here! Actually he has been here for almost a week.  Mom is doing good and so is he. He s a bundle of six pounds of cuteness! You can read about his delivery on my parent's blog. I was a little disappointed I could not be at the delivery (as I was with Treasure and Josiah,) but I did get to hear him being born on the telephone. I love taking pictures of little babies so you will be seeing lots and lots of him. They are so much easier to take pictures of, that is if you can catch them in between feedings (they seem to be all the time for a while!) Also, Treasure's birth day is today! As I mentioned before, I was in the room when Treasure was born, and since our birth days are a day apart, she is almost exactly how old I was when she was born! It doesn't seem like it was seven years ago, I can remember it like it was yesterday! I am going to make a list of ten things I love about my sweet little sis.

1. She loves Jesus!

2. She is so sweet

3. She can brighten a room with one little smile

4. She has a contagious laugh

5. She loves to read

6. She loves to help out

7. She loves to share

8. She loves little babies

9. She loves to sing with her pretty voice

10. She is so beautiful inside and out!

   Pictures coming soon!

Psalm 15:1-2

O Lord who shall sojourn in your tent? Who shall dwell on your holy hill? He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks the truth in his heart. ~ Psalms 15:1-2

Hello everyone! I hope you are all enjoying the fall beauty and weather (it seems as though you are from reading all the posts.:) I haven't posted in a while because I am  busy with school and my spare time is spent with my family or outside. My mom is also going to have the baby soon! I am SO exited. It will be so good to have a tiny baby in the house again. They grow up to fast for a baby loving big sister! Not that I don't like it when their grown too though. Eden has been the baby of nine for almost 2 years so we will see how she is with him. She may be pretty spoiled but she is still so sweet. Yesterday when I was getting ready to go to school, I told her I was leaving and she shook her head and clung to me. She is my girl!!:)) Anyone else have anything exiting coming up? God bless,

Summer is coming to a end.....

Summer is coming to a end already! It seemed to just fly by! I can't say I am very sad though. I LOVE fall! Reasons I love fall :The weather is just perfect, the sky is that deep blue, trees turn beautiful colors and shed their leaves, my birth day is in the fall, not to mention all the nearing holidays! I will also have a sweet new baby brother this fall, SO exited about that! I also love the excitement of starting school back. My mom has already started school  with the younger kids. Our family likes to have just a couple weeks brake in the summer, then start back again, and take some time off when the weather is cooler. Last year my brother Hunter went to home school classes called Varitas. He really liked it and is going back  again and so am I! I am really exited about that too. It starts in 3 weeks. So, what are your favorite things about fall?

Photo Shoot

Hello every one! Yesterday I was playing with the little ones. All of the little girls wanted to dress up, so I helped them. Farah Beth and Treasure have been watching the American Girl movie Samantha lately, so they wanted to dress up like Her. I thought they were so cute ( and nearly looked like a 20th century child) so I wanted to get some pictures. Aren't they so cute?!

Farah Beth, she was quite proud of her dress:-)

                                                                                         Treasure

                                                                                              I love this one!
Well anyway, Josiah and Eden wanted to get in also. So, I let them. I set up my own photo area, dressed them up, then took some shots. I found out that the only thing harder to do then get Josiah to sit still, was to get him make a regular face! All he wanted to do was to make faces, then run and look at each shot. He was so cute though, and I did manage to get just a few serious faced ones..........

    Have a blessed week,

Mount Saint Elias

Who is  ready to go to Alaska? I AM!!! Such beautiful mountains. Wouldn't it be awesome if you could look out your bedroom window and see one of these magnificent sites?! God is so good! He created the earth so beautiful, every little bit of his creation cries out that there is a creator. If the earth is so beautiful, I can't even begin to imagine what heaven looks like!
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork . ~ Psalms 19:1

Have Thine Own Way Lord

  1. Have Thine own way, Lord,
      Have Thine own way;
    Thou art the Potter,
      I am the clay.
    Mould me and make me
      After Thy will,
    While I am waiting,
      Yielded and still.
  2. Have Thine own way, Lord,
      Have Thine own way;
    Search me and try me,
      Master, today.
    Whiter than snow, Lord,
      Wash me just now,
    As in Thy presence
      Humbly I bow.
  3. Have Thine own way, Lord,
      Have Thine own way;
    Wounded and weary,
      Help me, I pray.
    Power, all power,
      Surely is Thine,
    Touch me and heal me,
      Savior divine.
  4. Have Thine own way, Lord,
      Have Thine own way;
    Hold o'er my being
      Absolute sway.
    Fill with Thy Spirit
      Till all shall see
    Christ only, always,
      Living in me.

This is a really pretty hymn I found in our hymn book. I don't know the tune to it, but I still love the words; especially the first stanza. I just thought I would share it with you. Have a blessed summer day,

Eden Joy

Hi All! Don't you just love taking pictures of little kids?! It is really hard to get them to sit still, I know from experience, but I love when you get those really cute random shots!  I had a photo shoot a couple days ago with Eden. She is SO adorable, and sweet! Here are some of the pictures. Oh, and by the way, here is a little tip on how to get a baby to sit still. Give them something to play with that you will not mind being in your picture. I gave her a old antique perfume bottle and also a conk shell!:) Here they are!

Likes and dislikes about summer

Hi every body! I know summer has been here for a while, so this post is a little late, but I will post it anyway! 10 things I love about summer. Here I go!

1. Water, ya know the beach and pool.

2. Warm weather, though I do not really ,like any weather over 90 degrees!:(

3. Fresh fruits: Watermelon, strawberry's, grapes, oranges, grape fruits (with sugar on top,) grapes, peaches plumbs, mangoes, cherries,  and the list goes on! Yes, I am a fruit lover!:)

 4. Cook outs!

5. Ice cream, lemon-aid, and all those cool treats. I had better stop, making myself hungry for some!!

6. Time off from school.

7.Just a time to relax!

8. Lots of vacations!

9. No coats or sweatshirts.

10. Light summer clothes, and flip flops!

There, is that a good enough list? Okay, now here is my list about what I don't like about summer.

  1. Really hot weather!

  2. Mosquitoes.

   3. Snakes.

   4.  Sunburn!

   5. When it gets to hot to go out doors, and you get board inside. I guess that is the same as disliking the hot weather. So in a way I like to have school through the really hot months in the summer, and have time off in the fall and spring. Actually my whole family does, so that is what we are going to do this year. I would love to read your likes and dislikes of summer! God bless,

Summer Party!!

will be drawn again.

Wednesday, June 8th

It's a Blog Party!

1. What are two songs that describe you?

Hmm, I don't really know if I have one!

2. What do you most fear?

Snakes, roaches, well I don't actually fear them (roaches,) but I do NOT like them AT ALL!! Snakes are just well, scary! I am not scared of bugs, unless you are talking about black widows. My dad was bit once, and had to be rushed to the emergency room, in VERY much pain. I am also scared of some ocean creatures, ya know, sharks, great whites, bull sharks, and mostly the sand shark. Sand sharks are usually the only sharks that are near were I swim.:) Just something about swimming in water that is dark and you can't see where you are stepping!

3. What color(s) dominate(s) your wardrobe?

Lot's of colors, none really the same! However I have a bunch of creams, whites, pinks and dark blues.

4. How do you normally do you hair?

I normally  have it down, or in a loose low braid.

5Do you prefer milkshakes or smoothies?

I I love both!

6. Do you like the color pink?

Very much, but it is not my favorite color.

7. What is your favorite flower?
So many! Must I pick a favorite. Since I don't have one favorite I will list my top favorites!:)
                                              Water Lily
Water Lily

Rose of Sharon
Rose of Sharon
Violet

VIOLET

                                                         Verbena Flower
VERBENA
8. How many states have you been to? So many, I live in SC. I have been to NC, GA,FL,VA,MD, WV, PA, DE, MA, NJ, NY,CT, and to Canada.

9. What is your favorite thing about June?
It's the beginning of summer!!! {Well, at least for most people. Being done with school, such a nice brake. Especially since we live 5 minutes from the beach, I do NOT like such hot weather or the mosquitoes!

10. Describe your "dream wedding location."

I haven't thought much of it. But..... I would probably like to be married in a beautiful field where wildflowers grow. And may be a pretty little creek to be near by. Lot's of large, old, and mossy oak trees over hanging.

Thanks for hosting Lucia!

Camping

Going on a 9 day trip!! We are going camping up in the NC mountains for a week. Before that though, we are staying at my house while we go to the NC home school convention. I love the mountains! Especially the cool weather, it has been over 95 degrees here in Charleston lately.:) So please pray for safe travel. Thanks and God bless,

Day at the park and wild flowres

Hello every one! Yesterday my family and I and some of our good friends went to the Water Front park. It was so much fun! Down on the pier there was a refreshing breeze and lots of swings. We also saw a big group of about 10 sting rays swimming past! One of the best parts was that there was LOTS of wild flowers growing down in the grass. I had the camera to take some shots with and started doing so. Then all of the other kids saw them and wanted me to take a picture of each and every one! They were truly very pretty . I have never seen such delicate, unique and very detailed wild flowers. Below are some of them.

I also took some pictures of Anna Grace!

                                                               God bless,
